Celebrating National Volunteer Week

Did you know that Piedmont Master Gardeners contributed 13,386 hours of volunteer service last year? Did you know that the estimated value of those efforts exceeded $388,000? Moreover, PMG’s volunteer educators made 16,259 contacts with members of the public, helping them to find answers to their horticultural questions and to adopt sustainable, science-based practices in their yards and gardens.

We are among 62 Extension Master Gardener units throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, comprising 4,800 volunteers. Together we provided some 397,000 hours of service in 2019, with an economic value of more than $10.9 million. During National Volunteer Week (April 19-25), the Piedmont Master Gardeners are proudly celebrating the impact we are making in the Charlottesville-Albemarle County area, and we are looking forward to future opportunities to help our community reap the many rewards of successful gardening.
