National Recycling Day

National Recycling Day, now known as America Recycles Day, started on November 15, 1997 as a part of the Keep America Beautiful initiative. It is typically a week of events organized to educate and motivate individuals on proper recycling, inspire us to be more mindful of what we consume and encourage us to purchase more recycled products.  During this COVID-19 pandemic time, the 2020 America Recycles Day, focuses on individual action that can make a huge collective difference. For example, did you know that recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to power a computer for 25 minutes, or that recycling one plastic bottle saves enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for three hours?  Help us educate our community about the benefits of recycling, and help us encourage our friends, family, and neighbors to take the #BeRecycled pledge, a promise to actively choose a lifestyle that reduces waste and saves natural resources. We hope you will read more about recycling in our series of posts done earlier this summer discussing sustainable waste management.
